That old lead smell III

Good morning all, "Happy Monday"! Ah, how fast the weekend flies by. Aside from standard household chores like laundry and cleaning, Maria and I got a good amount of  hobby time in as well! My neighbor, his son, and our family friend all came over and we all painted up a storm! My neighbors son some space marines, my neighbor some classic (60mm) knights, our family friend painted an awesomely kit bashed Nurgly, Crabby-Soulgrinder, and Maria painted a kit bashed a possessed chaos space marine! I'll try and convince them all to let me post their work, but they are all rather camera shy hobbyists. Great times were had, and polish delicacies were enjoyed.
These are the weekends that I live for.

Anyhow, I was able to paint up some lead, from Ral Partha: three chaos warriors, Peter the Executioner, Knight Sky, Hamlet Deadly (to whom I added a skull), Bathor the bull-man, and a citadel miniature that is now a chaos giant swinging a custom tombstone axe named... Biggus Dikkus?

"What about you? Do you find it... risible... when I say the name..."

Lovely, eh? The classic lead lumps have really grown on me more and more. The softer details give me more a blank canvas to work with and it feels like suggestions of details and not just hard lines. I really like when there is some room for artistic interpretation on my minis! Now they all just need some lovely basing and they'll be ready for battle!

For my own sake, here are some reference photos of the miniatures before I paint them:

I wish you all a great week, and all the the best in your hobby endeavors!

Until next time,
Nick D.C.

  2. Oh, it was lovely! I wish every weekend from now until the end of time would be like it. I am also extremely excited to get all my minis together and perhaps FINALY play a full game.

    1. It's between WHFB 1st edition, 3rd ed, or The Old World (as TOW rules are the most easily accessible). Depends on what I can drag my mates into! And definitely some sort of narrative game, a city/village invasion perhaps?
